BCBS of Georgia has roots dating back to 1937, when they were known as the Atlanta Blue Cross Plan.
By 1946, two more leading health insurance providers were founded — the Savannah Plan and the Columbus Plan. They merged in 1966 to form Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia/Columbus.
The BCBS of Georgia/Columbus company and the Atlanta Blue Cross Plan operated independently until 1985, when they joined together to create what is now Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia — based in Atlanta.
BCBS of Georgia is an independent member of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, which is a big family of separate Blue Cross and Blue Shield health insurance providers in the U.S.
Health Plans From Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia
